A signature light 'Mech of the Lyran state, the Wolfhound debuted during the Fourth Succession War as a counter to the Draconis Combine's Panther. It is fast, efficient, and rugged for its size, and it is built as a walking laser battery for long-distance, long-duration combat. Highly efficient heat sinks keep the Wolfhound mobile and effective even during heavy action, all but assuring its battlefield superiority.

Tamara Duke's Wolfhound actually served with the famous Kell Hounds mercenary unit through the Clan invasion of 3050 and every major conflict since. Over an uncounted number of missions, the 'Mech was shot apart many times, only to be rebuilt on each occasion with a different configuration - a testament to the survivability of the design. After the Jihad, many Kell Hounds migrated to the Republic, and took their 'Mechs with them, including this model, which Duke has nicknamed "Eisenfaust" (Iron Fist) in reference to the Lyran standard.
